The Castle of Light (Castillo de la Luz) is located near the boat harbor in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Unlike most other castles, Castillo de la Luz is square in shape.
The castle was constructed in 1494 and designed with a platform that could support 11 cannons.

The Castle of Light was designated as a national historical monument in 1941. It is currently used as an exhibition and cultural centre and is a popular tourist attraction in Las Palmas.
